According to TUIK data, house sales to foreigners increased by 81.8 percent in June compared to the same month of the previous year and became 8,630. This figure was the highest purchase made by foreigners in a month. Servet Property CEO Servet Meral states that 1,887 of the sales to foreigners, which reached 8,630 on a monthly basis, were made to Russian citizens. He says that the citizensof surrounding countries such as Iran, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, especially Russia are going on purchases. Meral stated that despite the summer season, house sales for domestic and foreigners were high, “After the announcement that the citizenship fee, which was 250 thousand dollars for the purchase of housing, would increase to 400 thousand dollars as of June 13, there was an intense purchasing process. Foreigners made serious purchases in order not to be affected by the price increase. This is also reflected in the numbers. The real estate sector is the safestinvestment vehicle in the world. It is a huge foreign currencyinflow for our country. It also constitutes an important item for closing the current account deficit. For this reason, we attach great importance to foreign real estate investors and welcome them to come to Turkey. We expect the increase to continue in the rest of the year.” Servet Meral says that there has been a serious activity in real estate in the last 3 years, with citizenship worth 400 thousand dollars, and concluded his words as following “Climate ranks first among the reasons why investors prefer Turkey with 53.2%. While cultural, social and religious harmony occupies a place of 48%, Turkey’s offering a safe and stable life occupies the third place with a share of 39.8%.
